Why Packaging and Aesthetic is Important

Hello World,

You know I read a lot about human behavior, consumer behavior and customer journey. However, I wanted to talk about why packaging is important to me as a consumer. If you look at my over all profile, I am not a marketers dream profile. I shop very smart and I track my expenses which most people don’t do. They get a pay cheque and they spend it on new trends or what they “think” they need right away.

I know I posed this question earlier – during this pandamic, are you all spending more or less?

I have been spending a bit more than I use to as I am saving on commute and I see the savings as I track. I will share a budget tracker for you in my upcoming blogs.

I have been also following many new small businesses on various social media platform to see their marketing strategies. One thing in common is packaging journey. I am seeing alll small business owner making small bite size videos of them packaging their products. This is a marketing tactic, because, when someone sees how much effort and time packaging takes, or overall beauty of the package itself, the customer is more incline to buy.

Packaging is very important to me as well. Aesthetic of a product you sell is basically presentation. Think of all the influencers that follow a certain color way to enhance the aethetic of their profile, for example:

This is their presentation that makes you want to follow them or any other influencer because, it looks pleasing and plus shows they actually put thought into this. Their profile is a product that they are selling to you audience and it’s packaged well hence, we follow and buy into it.

Same applies to packaging!

Think of your customer profile. Are they single, living alone, are they always working, what will make them feel special? For me, when I receive a package, it’s the unboxing experience, the pretty wrapping paper coming off – it’s almost as I have received a gift! Now understand, it’s expensive and time consuming for a small business to do that but, creativity shouldn’t be expensive so if you are a small business owner put some creative thought into packaging.

Some business owners, actually throw in freebie’s or stickers, or chocolate/candies. This gesture allows customers to remember the brand because, they felt special when opening the package.

If you are a small business owner, give your packaging a thought! Until then, I hope you all have a great day!

Rakuten – Get Some Money Back

Hello World,

Who knows what Rakuten is? If you don’t then you are throwing away money.

There are two types of people in this world. The ones that are good at saving and are financially savvy, and the others who see a pay cheque come and think they have money to spend. Growing up, I have seen best of those two worlds! My mother use to tell my father to always shop by looking at flyers as we had to be tight on our budget. On the other hand, dad’s logic is, it’s essential so it doesn’t matter if we save or not.

My opinion now, you can assess if the essential can wait a week for it to go on sale or not. Buying bulk on sale would have saved you atleast $3 dollars. Three dollars may not seem a lot but, over time it adds up.

For example, IF you buy a cup of coffee every work day for $3.95 which may not seem ground breaking but in 252 work days * $3.95 equals to almost a $1,000 and more if you are adding lunch, and upgrading the coffee to a starbucks! In other words, if you don’t calculate money in this grandular manner, you are throwing away money.

That’s exactly what many families do! They don’t shop smart. They think, what is going to happen if I spend that extra $10 dollars. It is going to add up over the year! I would suggest, do your research, check your daily flyers. Use your coupons! Take advantage of your credit card points!

I religously use Rakuten now and earn 2.75 to 7% cash back. Some times it covers my taxes or the shipping cost and it’s a great way to save.

It is a completely easy set up. You go click on this link: https://www.rakuten.ca/r/Dlaofficial_?src=Link

  1. Set up an account
  2. Set up your PayPal
  3. Find the store you are shopping from, Amazon, AliExpress, H&M, Walmart, Sportscheck, Dyson and the list is never ending.
  4. Click on the shop now list and it will direct you to the website and once you purchase your cash back will show up within 3 days of your purchase.

Be more mindful with your savings. If you don’t plan it won’t last long.

Please grow with me by following me on my other channels! I love your support and growth!

Financial Plan Makes You Confident

Hello World,

Few years back, I could tell you that I was not as confident as I am today. This trying times of the pandamic, I am financially secured. That came with a good financial plan. I was never the one to over spend or indulge. Only spent on good quality items/products/service, even if it was expensive because, I knew it was a long term investment. I was never about short term gains.

However, most people look for the short term indulgement, excitement and gains. In my opinion, that gives you just the happiness for today. I hate how some people actually use mental issues and anxiety as an excuse to gaining these short term happiness. For example, I needed that shopping therapy and it made me happy for the time being. Yes, that is okay for time to time, but not always. That cannot be your every day excuse.

If you have a long term objective then show me you are hard working enough to work towards it. My long term objective right now is sustainability. I want to make my money work for me and have sustainable income flowing and addition to that a bigger space. That is my target, and that is what I am working towards.

I segmented my money into through portions,

  1. Rainy day savings – most important. You never know when you might need it for any legal/medical issues or other issues.
  2. Money to invest – Cash that is just for investment that comes in with my income.
  3. Money for expenses – Cash that is necessity
  4. Money that goes into my RRSP – Mutual funds (not a lot) – Since this handled by banks, the dividends are being reinvested by an advisor / RRSP self directed stocks
  5. TSFA – Mutual funds/Self directed stocks

So other than my rainy day savings, you can see that my money is not sitting stagnet. If you don’t have investment accounts then I would suggest you do some research and get on top of it.

Please support me on my journey and share if you found this valuable!!!

Investing All Wrong – Mutual Funds and Individual Stocks

Hello World,

I started investing very young however, not mindfully. One of the financial advisors at the bank told me to buy mutual funds when I was 18 and I bought. They said, my money is just being wasted in my savings account. At 18, I think that was a smart decision. Many people I speak to now, still don’t have any investment plans! Which is scary!

But looking back, I didn’t understand anything my financial advisor was saying. They said, to buy, I bought. They told me to switch and I swtiched! But, now I know that mutual funds actually comes with high fees. These financial advisors are incentivised to sell you these funds because, they are making commision on it. You will notice, every new financial advisor will ask you to change or update or upgrade to a different fund. It puts the sale under their name. Minus the high fees, the only good point about mutual funds is that you are not managing it. It is being passively managed and the dividends you are earning are being reinvested.

That is why, I won’t really break my mutual funds. I have both RRSP and TSFA mutual funds however, I would have told my 18 year old self to invest in self directed ETF’s in RRSP in Questrades for lower fees. Only recenlty I made that switch. Questrade offers lower fees compared to major banks and it’s easy to use. I realized if you buy US ETF’s in TSFA, you will get with-hold tax later on when you sell them. However, owning ETF’s in RRSP is better because, you will not have to pay that with-hold tax.

If you don’t have an investment plan, get to it now! NOW! If you need help, I am always here to help.
